How Often Should You Take a Shower?
When you have sleek, stylish frameless shower doors installed in your bathroom, you may be tempted to jump in the shower all the time. But how often do you really need to shower and can taking too many showers actually be dangerous?
Showering is used to clean the body. It also can be a very soothing, relaxing experience because it can wash away your cares and anxieties as well as the built-up dirt.
Personal Hygiene and Disease Prevention
Showering regularly is important to good personal hygiene and for the prevention of disease, but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.
Showering too often can cause the skin to dry out, resulting in skin irritations, rashes, and possibly even eczema or rosacea. The skin produces natural oils that help protect it from the atmosphere and the sun’s rays. When you shower too often, these natural oils can be washed away, exposing the skin to the air and causing it to become overly dry.
Just like your digestive tract, your skin also produces helpful bacteria. These healthy bacteria that form naturally on the skin’s surface produce their own natural antibiotics, which the body uses to defeat bad bacteria that can damage the skin as well as other parts of your body.
Showering too frequently can remove these bacteria, increasing your skin’s exposure to these harmful organisms.
How Often Is Too Often?
So how often is too often? Showering daily usually is enough to keep your body clean and smelling good. If you are sweaty from a vigorous workout or due to hot weather, you can occasionally shower more than once a day, but you shouldn’t make it a part of your daily routine.
Showering two times or more daily is not always the best choice, even though you may want to because of your frameless shower doors. All things in moderation!
